Firm Overview
Ronald E. Schults is recognized as one of the most notable marina waterfront experts in the world. It was Schults' combined passion for coastal engineering, boating and sailing that inspired him to start a company that would help preserve the Great Lakes and yet assure the economic growth and vitality of those communities that house the many harbors of his journeys.
Schults formed The Abonmarche Group in 1979, and by hiring the brightest talent in the waterfront field, he saw his company grow to over 100 employees with 4 offices in the Midwest and his goal realized. He chose not only to focus on marina and coastal engineering but to make sure that waterfront services were offered domestically and internationally. Thus, Abonmarche became the protective experts of our great waterways around the world.
After the tragic loss of his wife in a traffic accident in 2004 left Schults with two young children, Schults downsized his business interests and sold The Abonmarche Group to his partners to allow himself time to focus on his family. Schults then restructured his business interests and formed the Edgewater Group to provide marina /waterfront consulting and engineering, along with waterfront real estate development and brokerage services. The Edgewater Group currently employs four individuals in the waterfront field, including Ronald E. Schults, P.E.; Ronald M. Raade, GRI (marina market analyst and real estate broker), Lorie Reits (sales/administrative assistant) and Lynn Basselman (senior administrative assistant). Additionally, the Edgewater Group is affiliated with a number of marina experts specializing in marina/waterfront appraisals, construction management and marina operations.
Edgewater Group works closely with local, regional and national planning and design firms on a collaborative basis on projects. Our focus is to assist local project design teams with the vision, planning, and physical and economic feasibility of complex waterfront projects.
